Wicked Makes Chicago Return for Two Month Run in October

Be ready to fly with the witches of Oz when they return this October. The hit Broadway production Wicked will make their comeback to Chicago as part of celebrating its 10th year anniversary.

Wicked is a musical adaptation of the 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire. The music and lyrics of the musical by Stephen Schwartz, tells the tale of the two witches of Oz who are friends but struggle through their differences and their love for the same man.

Having earned $2.9 billion in ticket sales in the final week of 2012 on its Broadway production, Wicked is considered one of the most lucrative musicals. During its first visit in Chicago on 2005, Wicked’s engagement was supposedly limited but the show ran 1,500 performances and ended production on January 25, 2009.

Wicked will be staged at the Oriental Theatre where it was first presented in Chicago some eight years ago. However, be advised that unlike its previous open-ended runs in Chicago, they’ll be having a limited eight-week run only from Oct. 30-Dec. 21.
