Touring Cast for Wicked Gets New Look with Jenn Gambastese, Curt Hansen

Wicked followers should watch out for the new pair that will give Oz a refreshing look. The first leg of the renowned musical’s tour in North America will star two Broadway veterans: Jenn Gambatese, who’ll be joining the cast as Glinda on February 26 in Costa Mesa, CA and Curt Hansen, playing Fiyero will later join the production in Tucson, AZ on March 20.

The two additions to Wicked’s touring cast are no newbies in the scene. In fact Gambatese was in Encores! revival of Fiorello when it was staged in New York recently. She was also in Broadway’s Hairspray, Tarzan, All Shook Up, Footloose, A Year with Frog and Toad and Is He Dead? Her regional credits include Annie Get Your Gun, Carousel and Lips Together Teeth Apart. Hansen, also a Hairspray cast, appeared in other musicals including the Broadway production and first national tour of Next to Normal, Parade in Los Angeles, and Girlfriend in Louisville. He also had his share of TV presence through Big Time Rush and The Good Wife.

The stellar performers whom Gambatese and Hansen will join in Oz are Tom McGowan (The Wizard), Dee Roscioli (Elphaba), Laurel Harris (Elphaba standby), Kim Zimmer (Madame Morrible), Clifton Davis (Dr. Dillamond), Demaree Hill (Nessarose) and Justin Brill (Boq).

Wicked is the classic The Wizard of Oz retold in different light. The musical is conveyed from the perspective of the witches of Oz. It explores the untold stories of the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba and her friend Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. The musical, with its Grammy-winning songs like “Defying Gravity”, “The Wizard and I,” and “Popular,” delves on how the green-skinned Elphaba turned into a “wicked witch”.

The show will be in Costa Mesa, CA until March 17 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts.
