Tom McGowan Takes Over Wizard Duties for Wicked on Broadway

Tom McGowan is taking over The Wizard role in the “Wicked” Broadway production at Gershwin Theatre starting on May 3.

“Wicked,” based on the novel by Gregory Maguire with the same name, tells the previously untold story of Elphaba and Glinda, the witches from Oz, and how they grew up to come Glinda the Good and Wicked Witch of the West. “Wicked” features a Stephen Schwartz score and book from Winnie Holman. Joe Mantello directs the production and musical staging is from Wayne Cilento.

Currently the cast also features Katie Rose Clarke playing Glinda, Teal Wicks in the role of Elphaba, Kathy Fitzgerald playing Madame Morrible, Etai BenShlomo in the role of Boq, Richard H. Blake playing Fiyero, Tom Flynn in the role of Dr. Dillamond and Jenny Fellner playing Nessarose.

McGowan was nominated for a Tony Award for his work in the original production on Broadway of La Bete. His other credits on Broadway include “Ivanov” and “Chicago.” McGowan won an Obie Award for his “The Food Chain” performance and also has numerous television and film credits.
