Kyle Dean Massey Makes Return to ‘Wicked’ July 31

Starting on July 31, Kyle Dean Massey will be returning to play Fiyero at Gershwin Theatre in the Broadway production of “Wicked.” Massey will be taking over for Richard H. Blake. Blake’s last performance will be on July 29.

“Wicked,” a brilliant reimagining of The Wizard of Oz, highlights the untold stories of Glinda the Good and Wicked Witch of the West. The story follows Elphaba, the witch with green skin, through life-changing events which eventually lead to her being labeled “wicked.” Stephen Scwartz’ Grammy award winning score features the songs “Defying Gravity,” “Popular” and “The Wizard and I.”

The latest time Massey played Fiyero on Broadway was in 2011. He then joined Wicked’s national tour. Other Broadway credits for Massey include “Xanadu” and “Next to Normal.” His credits from Off-Broadway include “Lucky Guy” and “Altar Boyz.”

“Wicked” first opened on Broadway on October 30, 2003. The music won a total of three Tony Awards, with Idina Menzel winning Best Actress. Currently the production stars Chandra Lee Schwartz playing Glinda, Jackie Burns in the role of Elphaba, Adam Grupper plays the The Wizard, Randy Danson in the role of Madame Morrible, Jenny Fellner plays Nessarose, Etai BenShlomo is the role of Boq and Tom Flynn plays Dr. Dillamond.
