Wicked London, which Entertainment Weekly magazine recently named Best Musical of the Decade, has announced their 2010 cast. Rachel Tucker will be playing Elphaba and Louise Dearman will be playing Glinda, in the most sought after female roles on the West End.

Beginning with performances starting on January 12, Wicked’s Broadway production will have a new Glinda. Katie Rose Clark will be taking over the role. In addition, beginning on January Jenny Fellner will be the new Nessarose.

Cleveland Woman Tries to Rattle Wicked Understudy

Merideth Kaye Clark began as an understudy. However what she came back as was one tough cookie. What could have been a show biz disaster instead turned into a beautiful moment of theater where the 2,700 members in the audience and actors onstage shared in something, said Clark, recalling the experience on Wednesday. According to Steve Quinn, tour manager for Wicked, on Thursday night at State Theatre located at Playhouse Square during the middle of the quietest part of the enormously popular Broadway tour, an obscenity filled, drunken bawl started to break out from the audience.

Wicked Tour Signs on New Wizard and Bog

The company for Wicked’s second tour of North America is welcoming Zach Hanna playing Boq and Don Amendolia playing the Wizard in Schenectady, NY on December 9. The Broadway credits of Amendolia include My One and Only and Stepping Out. He also appeared in The Firebugs, Cloud Nine (as part of the original cast), Dedication and Some Men on Broadway. He is also a stage director as well as film and television actor. Hanna has appeared in Altar Boyz as Mark Off-Broadway and also in national tours for Altar Boyz and Copacabana playing Tony. His regional credits include Tommy by the Who where he played Tommy, Convenience in the role of Ethan, Baby where he played Danny and Jesus Chris Superstar in the role of Annas.

Kristin Chenoweth to Guest Judge ‘American Idol’

You may or may not be too familiar with Kristin Chenoweth but fans of “Pushing Daisies,” ABC’s quirky comedy, are quite familiar with her voice and face. Chenoweth is a dancer/singer with credentials from Broadway, including a Tony award. The NY Daily News is reporting that she will be a replacement judge temporarily on “American Idol,” the Fox hit TV show.

Federer Returns to the Part of Nessarose

Michelle Federer, the original Broadway Nessarose, returned to her role in the musical Wicked on August 18, 2009. She takes over for Christy Candler whose final performance was on August 16, 2009.

Erin MacKey Takes Over as Glinda on Broadway

Wicked, the musical from Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holtzman, welcomed in its latest Glinda, Erin Mackey, on August 11 at the Gershwin Theatre on Broadway. Mackey has taken over for Alli Mauzey in the role that was created originally by Kristin Chenoweth, a Tony Award winner.

Dee Roscioli Assumes Role of Elphaba

Dee Roscioli joined the Broadway production of Wicked on July 21 at the Gershwin Theatre after previously starring in Chicago’s production of the Winnie Holzman-Stephen Schwartz musical.

Although Adam Lambert is best known for American Idol, previously he was involved with Wicked as well as a musical version of The Ten Commandments. What a lot of people don’t know is that the 27 year old, who was one of the American Idol finalists, had a professional background in musical theater long before singing in front of Paula, Simon, and the rest of the American Idol judges.

Patty Duke Joins Wicked San Francisco Cast as Madame Morrible

Producers for Wicked, the smash hit musical, today announced that starting on March 24 Patty Duke, Academy Award winning actress, will be playing Madame Morrible. The current Madame Morrible, Carol Kane had been scheduled from the beginning for only a limited engagement for the first eight weeks when Wicked returned to its home of San Francisco. Kane will be giving her last performance on March 22 in San Francisco at Orpheum Theatre.
